In the first two "big tests" for Mississippi State, they didn't answer the bell like Rick Ray would have liked.
That was not the story Thursday night.
The Bulldogs knocked off the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles 66-53 inside Humphrey Coliseum in front of 5,902 fans.
"I thought this was a really good win for our ball club against a really quality opponent," MSU head coach Rick Ray said.
The Bulldogs (8-2) lost to Utah State 87-68 on the road and dropped a 71-61 decision to TCU in the Big 12/Southeastern Conference Challenge in the Hump.
Florida Gulf Coast made it all the way to the Sweet 16 in last year's NCAA tournament as a No. 15 seed, and earned the name "Dunk City" after an impressing montage of dunks during the tournament.
