The Mississippi State baseball program reached new heights in 2013.
After advancing to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb., the Bulldogs worked all of the way into the NCAA National Championship Series.
MSU fell short of the goal of the national title and finished second in the nation to UCLA, but it was still good enough for the best season of any team sport in school history.
That accomplishment by head coach John Cohen and the Bulldogs was chosen the top sports story of 2013 by The Starkville Daily News sports staff.
Cohen called the season "a real positive thing for our program," and has been proud of the achievements of the entire MSU athletic program. "It's a great time to be a Bulldog," Cohen said.
