Leg. session to tackle schools

January 8, 2014

The Mississippi Legislature began the 2014 legislative session Tuesday, and local legislators will face a number of issues as it carries on.

The Starkville and Oktibbeha County school districts’ consolidation will be a major point of consideration for local representatives throughout the legislative session. The Commission on Starkville Consolidated School District Structure worked to compile a set of recommendations for the consolidation to submit to the legislators before the end of the 2014 session. Throughout the process, commissioners have expressed their desire to submit the report in the legislative session as soon as possible to allow legislators time to consider their recommendations.
