Frostbite Tourney growing

January 9, 2014

Officials expect young soccer players like these to have "a great time" when the Starkville Frostbite Tournament takes place on Saturday and Sunday at the Starkville Sportsplex. (Submitted photo)

The Starkville Soccer Association set out to create a tournament six years ago which would allow area teams to compete against grade A talent while still staying close to home.
That idea blossomed into the Starkville Frostbite Tournament.
“We are extremely excited to produce local tournaments which not only benefit the local economy, but provide a boost to our local teams,” SSA past president Dr. Rob Leach said. “Teams get to play high quality competition from Memphis to the Gulf Coast right here at home, so grandparents, moms and dads all get to see. It is a real boost to our local program and we are proud to do this for the city of Starkville.”
