Starkville coach Anna Albritton compares her team’s style of play to “a chess game.”
On Friday night, the Lady Jackets executed that metaphor beautifully as they moved the ball around, set up all the right shots, including 38 shots on goal, and ultimately defeated the visiting Lady Falcons of Columbus 9-0 in a Class 6A, Region 3 match.
It was the first of two shutouts as the SHS boys defeated Columbus 4-0 in the nightcap.
Albritton said the Lady Jackets work on getting the soccer ball in the right position.
