Lady Jackets fall to Lady Cougars

January 11, 2014

It wasn't the way the Starkville Lady Yellowjackets wanted to start the new year on Friday night.
The Northwest Rankin Lady Cougars secured a first-quarter lead against Starkville and didn't give it up for the rest of the game.
The Lady Jackets ended up losing their first Class 6A, Region 3 game of the season to the Lady Cougars 76-67.
"We knew that coming off our Christmas break with our last game being on Dec. 28 that we were going to come out kind of flat and it showed throughout," SHS girls coach Kristie Williams said. "Offensive rebounding killed us. Northwest came in and were ready to play. We were able to get them at their house and they have gotten better during the course of the weeks we haven't seen them."
