A soggy reception - Some MSU students displaced by pipe bursts

January 14, 2014

A Mississippi State University video released last week revealed the damage Ruby Hall suffered due to the extraordinary cold that passed through last week. Ruby Hall was one of three residence halls that suffered damage from pipe ruptures during the cold outbreak. Some students returned to campus this weekend to find themselves displaced. Mississippi State University freshman Mykela Bricka was expecting to move back into her dorm room at Magnolia Hall Saturday after 6 p.m.

Magnolia Hall was one of multiple dorms on campus where pipes froze about a week ago and then burst, causing damage to students’ rooms, including Bricka’s. Had this not happened, she said, she would have moved in Thursday, but she received an email notice from MSU Housing asking her to wait until 2 p.m. Saturday, and then another asking her to wait until 6 p.m.
