Sturgis Rally returning - City, Rally board negotiate terms

January 23, 2014

The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally Board has confirmed plans to bring its rally back to Sturgis Aug. 15-17 at Dianne Jackson Memorial Park after a three-year hiatus, with plans to sign a finalized contract with the town Feb. 4.

Donny Hanson, rally board president, said his board met with Sturgis Board of Aldermen Friday to determine what the rally board would pay the city for use of the park and how financial responsibilities would be divided among the city and the rally board. The rally board is still drawing up the contract based on Friday night’s discussion, he said, so he declined to name the exact dollar amounts the city and rally board would each contribute to the event.
