SA girls lose at Madison Ridgeland Academy

MADISON – Madison Ridgeland Academy has a strong second-half comeback on Wednesday night as it defeated Starkville Academy 48-35 at home in high school girls basketball action.
After taking a 10-8 lead and stretching the margin to 20-15 at halftime, the Lady Volunteers were outscored by MRA 17-7 in the third quarter and 16-8 in the fourth.
Sallie Kate Richardson had a double-double for SA with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Nora Kathryn Carroll scored 17 points to lead the Lady Vols.
MRA was led in the scoring department by Amber Landing with 17 points.
It was the second-straight loss for the Lady Volunteers as they saw their record fall to 21-9.
The game was postponed from Tuesday due to wintery weather making travel to the Jackson area dangerous.
The Starkville Academy teams host Washington School on Friday with junior varsity games beginning at 4 p.m.
