MABEN – One of the best basketball players in the surrounding area might also be one of the least known.
Listed among the young roster at West Oktibbeha is senior Kadarius Yates, who this season alone averages 26.6 points, 14.7 rebounds and 4.1 blocks per game.
Some might try and dismiss Yates’ numbers claiming they are skewed based on his competing in Class A basketball, but that is not the case. Against 6A Columbus, Yates posted 24 points and 15 rebounds and when facing 5A school West Point, the senior scored 20 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
It was against a conference foe though that Yates had arguably one of his best games. Earlier this season, the post player secured a triple-double against Noxapater with 34 points, 16 rebounds and 12 blocks.
