Football wasn't on the mind of many when Jamie Mitchell took over as coach of the Starkville High School program four years ago.
Mitchell decided to change that and the culture surrounding the Yellowjacket football team.
It has been seen on National Signing Day and it was no different for this year's signing day.
SHS saw a trio of players ink with junior colleges on Tuesday.
Princeton Jones signed with East Mississippi Community College, while Fontavious Smith and Darius Grayer inked with Holmes Community College.
"It's just a great thing for our program and the tradition that we have here to continue to produce some guys that can go on and play at the next level," Mitchell said, who led the Jackets to the 2012 Class 5A state championship. "Four years ago, football wasn't the thing to do here. There were a lot of guys that should have been playing that weren't. These guys were out there and pulling their weight and trying to make it something."
