Volunteers begin postseason play today

Playoffs bring a new appearance for the Starkville Academy Volunteers.
“It’s a little bit different this year,” Starkville Academy coach Mark Alexander said. “It’s a 10-team format instead of an eight-team format and so this is essentially a play-in game.”
The game Alexander refers to is the Volunteers opening round game of the Class AAA-Division II Tournament, where after finishing fourth in the North, Starkville Academy has been pitted against the Lamar School Raiders, who finished fifth in the South.
