Area preps for weather

February 11, 2014

A wintry mix that hit Oktibbeha County overnight and a second round expected tonight has area utility workers, government and school officials on high alert.

Mississippi State University, as well as Starkville and Oktibbeha County school districts, Starkville Academy and Starkville Christian School, all announced Monday they would close today in anticipation of the National Weather Service’s forecasting the possibility of freezing rain accumulation. Oktibbeha County offices are closed today, as well, with only essential staff working. Starkville officials had not determined by press time whether city offices would open today.
