Chenney known for hard work, helpfulness at OCH

Several OCH employees, including Lyle, Andrews and Peele, were close friends of Chenney, who served as the hospital’s social services director for more than 30 years. (Submitted photo)

The day before she passed away, OCH Regional Medical Center’s social services director Melissa Chenney won an award.

Friday was OCH’s annual Employee Recognition Day, and Chenney was one of 24 staff members given the Caring Employees award for volunteering time, talent and resources for hospital and community events. OCH spokesperson Mary Kathryn Kight said she was one of several people who saw Chenney there that day — and one of several more who were shocked to hear Chenney was found dead at home Saturday morning from natural causes.
