Postseason opportunity: Jackets consider this time of year as new beginning

February 17, 2014

The regular season action may have come to a close for Starkville High School, but coach Greg Carter sees this time of year as a new beginning.
“Once the regular season ends it is like a new season begins,” Carter said. “Everybody is rejuvenated and ready to play again.”
The Yellowjackets start the “new season” today as they enter the Class 6A, Region 3 Tournament with a 5:30 p.m. contest against Northwest Rankin at Madison Central.
When the teams take the court, Starkville is hoping for a repeat of regular season history.
“We have played Northwest Rankin twice and beat them twice, but the two times we played them their best player was hurt,” Carter said. “I am not sure if he will be back for the tournament or not, but he makes a big difference for their team.”
