MADISON – The Starkville Lady Yellowjackets didn't find the success they were looking for Friday evening.
Even though the Lady Jackets fought hard, in the end a 60-53 victory went in favor of the Northwest Rankin Lady Cougars in the Class 6A, Region 3 championship.
“You know where it says if anything can go wrong, it will go wrong, well it happened for us,” Starkville coach Kristie Williams said. “We took shots that we normally would take and the rim was just unkind to us. They fought hard. They did not give up. You can easily hang your heads when your shots are not falling, but we didn’t do that. We kept pushing it and hats off to Northwest. They came in and from the jump, they were ready to play.”
