There was a time when Audrea Powell was considering dropping out of school.

She’s now a senior at Starkville High School, but she said she previously attended a different school where she had low grades and was struggling to succeed.

“I met someone when I first moved here, and they helped me get my grades up,” Powell said. “I really was thinking about dropping out and getting my GED, but now my grades are up, I have As and Bs, and I plan on going to beauty school.”
