The Mississippi State Bulldogs ran up against a tough pair of lefthanded pitchers in the first game of a doubleheader against Arkansas on Saturday.
Jalen Beeks and Michael Gunn of the Razorbacks scattered 10 hits and shut out the 16th-ranked Bulldogs 4-0 at Dudy Noble Field.
It was the first time that MSU had been shut out since losing an 8-0 decision to UCLA in the NCAA National Championship series to end last season.
The Bulldogs left nine runners on base and never managed to break through against Beeks or Gunn.
