LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Reader praises community

To the Editor:

On Saturday, I attended the funeral of a man I had never met. James Leonard, a Marine who served in Vietnam, was buried at the Odd Fellow Cemetery in Starkville. 

I cannot express enough gratitude for the respect shown by the Starkville Police Department as they closed intersections for the funeral procession. The officers in Class A uniforms stood at attention as they saluted this Marine veteran and his funeral procession.
