School shooting victim’s uncle speaks at Hump

April 10, 2014

Larry Scott has identified common threads between the lives of Anne Frank and his niece Rachel Scott.

At 15 years old, in March 1945, Frank died of typhus in a German concentration camp during World War II, and her diary became one of the best-known memoirs of the Holocaust. At 17 years old, on April 20, 1999, Rachel was the first of 13 victims at Columbine High School to die at the hands of fellow students Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. Larry said both Harris and Klebold considered Adolf Hitler a role model, and like Frank, Rachel wrote her thoughts down.
