Alison Owen arrived at Mississippi State two years ago to join the softball team.
Not only did the girl affectionately known as “A.O.” become a Bulldog, but she has pitched her way into some impressive honors.
Throughout her career, Owen has been selected three times as Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week with the most recent on Monday. Owen’s honor came on the heels of a week that saw the senior guide the Bulldogs to a 2-2 finish against top 15 opponents, including two victories over No. 2 Alabama.
“It is an honor,” Owen said. “It is a testament to all of us because we make each other better. Vann (Stuedeman) has worked so hard with us, so it is a big accomplishment for her, for the whole team and for Mississippi State to get these awards. Everyone is just working really hard. It is an award for the whole team not just for me. I couldn’t do it without them.”
