Starkville is gearing up for a “battle” on the golf course.
The Yellowjackets will face off against their 10 district foes today as they host the Class 6A, Region 1 Tournament on the Mississippi State Golf Course.
“This will see who qualifies for the state tournament,” Starkville coach Sam Bryant said. “They will take the top four teams out of our district, which has 10 teams, so it will be a battle for those spots.”
Among those competing along with the Jackets are Columbus, Tupelo, Grenada, Olive Branch, Southaven, South Panola, Horn Lake, DeSoto Central and Hernando. With such a strong group of competitors, Bryant said the opportunity to host is a big advantage.
