Corey was a vibrant, tender-hearted, fun-to-be-around young man. He was truly loved by all of his classmates, teachers, coaches, friends and his whole community. He was a promising football player who would always give 110%. He also loved riding horses and barrel racing at Lovern’s, fishing, hunting and enjoying the outdoors. He will be remembered for his kindness, optimism, generosity and sense of humor. And he will always be remembered as, and was often called, “Sunshine.”

The funeral was held Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at 4:00 pm, at the Ty Cobb Center on the Choctaw County High School campus. The overflowing love and support will always be remembered by, and is still felt by, Corey’s family. Because so many people have asked and want to show their support for the family at this difficult time, The Corey McPherson Memorial Fund has been set up at BancorpSouth. Donations will go directly to the McPherson family and are tax deductible.
