MSU provost seeks top spot at Austin Peay

April 22, 2014

Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tenn. announced four finalists in the search for its next president Friday, among them Mississippi State University Provost and Executive Vice President Jerry Gilbert.

It’s the second time in the past year that Gilbert has been a finalist for a presidential position at another university. In September, he was a finalist for president of the University of South Alabama, which ultimately chose Tony G. Waldrop — provost and executive vice president at the University of Central Florida — in February. It was not long after that, Gilbert said, when this new opportunity came to his attention.
