PEARL – Wes Rea needed something good to happen when he stepped to the plate with two runners on and two outs in the sixth inning.
The Mississippi State junior first baseman delivered with a two-run double down the third base line to give the Bulldogs a lead. A lead they never surrendered.
Rea's hit launched the No. 20 Bulldogs by in-state rival No. 12 Ole Miss for an 8-3 victory to retain the Governor's Cup in front of a record crowd of 8,496 at Trustmark Park.
