The month of April and the middle of spring brings with it new beginnings.
That's the case for former East Oktibbeha County High School girls basketball player April Sykes.
Sykes has spent the last several months in rehabilitation and training from a broken bone in her left tibia and is now ready to begin the next chapter in her Women's National Basketball Association career.
After starting with the Los Angeles Sparks, Sykes leaves today for Phoenix and has an opportunity with the Mercury.
Phoenix head coach Sandy Brondello was an assistant in Los Angeles and that's where she met Sykes.
