Locals assist storm victims in aftermath

April 30, 2014

J.D. McKee sorts through wreckage at CTC Inc. on East Main Street in Louisville in the aftermath of a tornado that tore through the area Monday evening.

As Louisville reeled in in the aftermath of a tornado-producing storm that rumbled through Winston County on Monday, Oktibbeha County first responders were quick to head south and offer assistance.

Oktibbeha County Fire Department dispatched four volunteer firefighter crews from Sturgis, Maben, Central and East fire departments. Starkville Fire Department sent a crew of about 15 firefighters to Louisville to help clear the way for larger response efforts that followed Tuesday morning.
