MABEN – Coach Pam Champion’s tennis team accomplished a feat never before done at East Webster.
By defeating Clarkdale 7-0, the Wolverines claimed the Class 2A State championship.
“All the time and hard work they put into it, this made it all worth it,” Champion said. “They play pretty much year round so this just shows what hard work can do.”
Looking at the score alone, it might seem that East Webster took the title by a landslide, but dig a little deeper and the matches were hard fought.
Three of those seven victories went back and forth with a third-set tiebreaker being required to seal the deal. However, in the end, it was the Wolverines coming out on top.
