Maurine Brooks Langley

Maurine Brooks Langley, age 93, passed away May 8, 2014. Maurine was born October 22, 1920 in Choctaw County, Mississippi. She received her B.S. and Masters degree  in Elementary Education from Mississippi State University. She taught school for 39 years. Maurine volunteered for the Oktibbeha County Hospital Auxiliary for 22 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Starkville.
 She was proceeded in death by her husband, Ausie Langley, her parents Olive and Homer Brooks, two sisters, Williette Flowers and Betty Brooks; and two brothers, Hugh Brooks and Joe Brooks, and great-granddaughter Abigail Stewart.
She is survived by her sister, Merle McMinn; son, Hugh Langley and wife Janet; daughters, Rita Stewart and husband Brad and Drene Kirby; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. 
Visitation will be from 2:00 until 3:00 pm Sunday, May 11, 2014 with services following at Welch Funeral Home, Starkville, MS with Prentiss Gordon officiating. Burial will follow at Blythe Creek in Mathiston.
The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Habitat for Humanity, American Family Association, or French Camp Academy.
