BALDWYN – The Eupora Eagles held a comfortable four-run lead in the seventh inning, but the Baldwyn Bearcats overcame that deficit and earned a 6-5 home win on Saturday.
Joshua Rollins racked up two RBIs on two hits for Eupora. He singled in the second inning and homered in the seventh inning.
Trey Pittman was charged with the loss. He lasted just 2/3 of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.
In the top of the third, the Eagles grabbed the early lead at 1-0. After Rusty Johnson doubled, Pittman kept the pressure on Baldwyn's pitching with a single that brought home Johnson.
Eupora got two-run rallies in the fifth inning and the seventh. In the fifth, the Eagles scored on an error, plating Will Bowen.
The Bearcats responded with four runs in the seventh with a score on a passed ball, a groundout by Jacob Turner, a RBI double by Tucker Jenkins, and an RBI single by Tyler Hathcock.
Game two of the Class 2A playoff game will be played at Eupora Monday at 6 p.m.
