Eupora rallies for 10-8 win

May 12, 2014

EUPORA – Eupora High School pitcher Trey Pittman didn't let a little bit of adversity keep him down Monday night.
The very first Baldwyn Bearcat batter of the game in Tucker Jenkins hit a home run off Pittman.
In most cases, that kind of start could have knocked a pitcher completely off their game, but not Pittman.
Instead the junior composed himself, looked to his teammates for support and came back to pitch a full seven innings allowing eight runs on 10 hits while striking out four. The Eagles went on to defeat the Bearcats 10-8 to even the Class 2A playoff series at 1-1.
“Our pitchers have been huge,” Eupora coach Brad Mitchell said. “You take Trey (as the) first kid of the ballgame hits a home run. That kid (Jenkins) is a great player. He leads the ballgame off with a home run. A lot of high school pitchers that would have been it for them. They would have shut it down.”
