Mississippi State announced that point guard Jacoby Davis will transfer to be closer to his sick mother.
Davis' mother, Michelle, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
“I fully support Jacoby's decision to transfer under these circumstances,” MSU coach Rick Ray said in a school release. “Jacoby has been a model student-athlete here at Mississippi State but simply wants and needs to get back closer to home to support his mother.”
The Charlotte, N.C. native sat his freshman season after suffering a torn ACL. He played in 28 games this past season for the Bulldogs. He averaged just 2.2 points and 1.2 rebounds. He had 19 total assists during the 2013-14 campaign. Davis scored a career-high nine points at Missouri on March 1.
