EUPORA – Fans of East Webster and Eupora could not have asked anything more of their teams on Friday.
After battling seven innings, the teams treated those in attendance to free baseball with the Eagles ultimately claiming a 4-3 eight inning victory making them the Class 2A North champions.
“We have been a pretty resilient bunch,” Eupora coach Brad Mitchell said. “We finished third in the division. To come out and have a chance to play for a state championship, that says a lot right there.”
East Webster may not be moving forward, but Wolverines coach Wes Johnson could not imaging the season ending in a more appropriate way.
“It was only fitting,” Johnson said. “Both of these teams in the county laid it on the line (Friday). Both of them fought hard. We won two. They won the last two and we wish them the best of luck.”
