PEARL–Eupora and Taylorsville appeared evenly matched across the board except for one category.
During the first game of the Class 2A State championship series on Wednesday, Eagles coach Brad Mitchell said it was that slight variation that made the difference which allowed the Tartars to claim a 10-6 victory.
“We matched them step for step in hits, (but) we just didn’t get the big hit when we needed it,” Mitchell said. “You look at the scoreboard the difference was four runs. You look in the error column and there are four errors. That was the difference in the ballgame, but that is why you play three. We have to come back ready to go on Friday.”
