PEARL – The Eupora Eagles entered the postseason as the third best team in their division.
They fought and climbed their way to being one of the final two squads standing in Class 2A baseball.
The final series was a tough challenge and in the end, Eupora saw its season end with a 7-1 loss to Taylorsville in the second game of the state championship series.
Even with the loss, coach Brad Mitchell knew the Eagles fought, but just came up short to an outstanding opponent.
“It was great,” Mitchell said. “It was fun to be a part of. These guys battled. (We) just didn’t play very well at the end, but that isn’t taking anything away from Taylorsville. They are a good team. They deserved it. Our guys don’t need to feel they didn’t deserve to be here because they battled their tails off and I couldn’t be prouder of them.”
