Mary Kate Hughes has been on stage since she was a child.

The first performance she remembers is being in her church’s Nativity play, and she appeared in several Starkville High School musicals before graduating in 2013. But when she went to the University of Mississippi, she chose vocal performance as a major, thinking her future lay there specifically. Then she performed in a musical theater revue, as well as an opera, and her mind began to change.
