LAFAYETTE, La. – The Mississippi State Bulldogs have found themselves in familiar territory.
MSU will be playing for its third regional championship in the last four years under head coach John Cohen.
The Bulldogs have made it to the championship round with a 3-1 win over in-state foe Jackson State Saturday night in the Lafayette (La.) Regional at M.L. Tigue Moore Field.
"We're very fortunate to beat a very good Jackson State club," MSU head coach John Cohen said. "I know there are a lot of people around the country that are not familiar with their program, but (head coach) Omar (Johnson) does an incredible job and those guys can beat anybody. I feel fortunate that we got through this one."
The Bulldogs (39-22) are 2-0 in the regional and will play the winner of today's first game between Jackson State and host Louisiana-Lafayette at 6 p.m.Â
