Jackets to see artificial turf for most of 2014 schedule

June 4, 2014

The times are changing.
There aren't many teams, especially in the highest classification of Mississippi high school football, that still play on natural grass.
When considering Starkville High School's 2014 schedule, head coach Jamie Mitchell sees only two dates where his team will play on natural grass.
Mitchell believes that trips to Oxford and Southaven early in the season will be the only times the Yellowjackets will play on natural grass this fall.
"The one ironic thing and we talked about this, we will play on grass two ballgames out of the 11 we play," Mitchell said. "That's really unusual."
