A pair of Mississippi State track athletes will have a chance to win national titles this week.
Brandon McBride and Cornelia Griesche compete today at the NCAA Championship in Eugene, Ore. McBride will run in the 800-meter race at 6:30 p.m., while Griesche will compete in the steeplechase event at 8:45 p.m. Both races are semifinals.Â
McBride will move on if he finishes in the top eight and will run at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. If Griesche advances, she will run in Friday's final at 7:35 p.m.
Bulldog head coach Steve Dudley is excited for his two athletes and expects them to have a good showing in "Track Town, USA."
"Brandon and Cornelia both are looking very much forward to Eugene, Ore. and getting to compete in front of the thousands and thousands of people," Dudley said. "It will be a little bit different than some of the meets that we've been to. We obviously go to the Texas Relays, the Penn Relays and the Mt. SAC Relays where you have a lot of fans. Eugene is just a little bit different platform and arena."
