Mississippi State head coach John Cohen was preparing for the College World Series a year ago at this time.
This year the sixth-year head coach is getting a jump on the recruiting process.
The Bulldogs saw their season end at the Lafayette (La.) Regional a couple of weekends ago and Cohen has shifted his focus off the diamond to finding kids to play for him on it.
"At this time of year, if you're not playing, your focus just goes in another direction," Cohen said. "It goes immediately to recruiting first. A lot of people ask me about the teams in the (College) World Series and I've done several radio stuff for Omaha, but really my focus isn't on the eight teams in Omaha. It's on the group of 30 or 40 guys who are 2015, 16s and 17s we're focused on in the recruiting process."
