Allsup takes over Volunteers

June 17, 2014

It has been said that slow and steady wins the race.
That is the approach Starkville Academy took when selecting its new boys basketball coach and the patience paid off. After looking through applications and taking their time to select the perfect fit, the Volunteers have announced the hiring of 24-year coaching veteran Bruce Allsup as the new boys head coach.
“We took applications and saw Bruce was interested,” SA athletic director and girls basketball coach Glenn Schmidt said. “It just hit us that there he is with 24 years of coaching. He lives in the area. He prepares well, coaches well and his enthusiasm for basketball is as good as anybody. He wanted to get back in coaching and it was just the right time. We are very fortunate to get someone with his basketball background.”
