MSU's McDonald fails to make cut at US Open

June 20, 2014

Mississippi State's Ally McDonald needed a good showing in the second round of the U.S. Women's Open at Pinehurst No. 2 if she was going to make the cut.
The junior Bulldog improved her score from round one by one stroke, but it wasn't enough to stick around and play the weekend.
McDonald turned in a 7-over, 77 on Friday to finished at 15-over for the championship. She shot a 78 in Thursday's opening round.
“This was not the way that I wanted to finish,” McDonald said. “I learned a lot from this experience, and I can take a lot away from my first Open. I hope to have many more opportunities like this in the future.”
