Mississippi voters in the U.S. Senate Republican primary runoff Tuesday doled tea party candidate Chris McDaniel the Mr. Congeniality prize, instead advancing incumbent Thad Cochran closer to a seventh term.

McDaniel, and his supporters, accepted the honor of pushing the establishment candidate to the brink with all the gracefulness of Honey Boo Boo’s mother on a bad hair day. Should anyone be particularly surprised by this? Probably not.
