Starkville 9-year-olds play State at Batesville

July 1, 2014

For the last few months Starkville 9-year-olds have been playing their baseball in the friendly confines of McKee Park.
Starting this morning that all changes as the Starkville All-Stars head north to Batesville for the Dizzy Dean State tournament.
“It is going to be different for all of them,” coach Ryan Taylor said. “You are not used to those surroundings. You are playing different kids and teams. Last year this group played at home and they have been playing at McKee Park all year long. It will be a little challenge for us, but I believe once they get used to that, we will be fine and it will be fun.”
Starkville team will face off against Fulton first at 9:30 a.m., and Taylor knows more so than any other game this one will be the one to set the pace for how the tournament will go.
