Former Mississippi State Bulldog Chris Curry became the head coach of Arkansas-Little Rock earlier this week.
After playing two seasons at Meridian Community College, Curry played the 1999 season for legendary head coach Ron Polk and the Bulldogs. He led all Southeastern Conference catchers in fielding percentage before being drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 1999.
He now returns to his home state.Â
"I could not be happier to return home to central Arkansas as the head baseball coach at UALR," Curry said in a school release. "I am thankful to UALR Chancellor Dr. Joel E. Anderson and (athletic director) Chris Peterson for the opportunity they've given to me and my family. I think UALR baseball has great potential and I'm excited about what we can accomplish. I'm excited to connect with the central Arkansas community, as well as, the rest of the state, and look forward to great things in the future."
