Watching sports, enjoying freedom came with a cost

July 3, 2014

As you wake up today, you may notice that there is a good bit going on in the sports world.
There is the Wimbledon men's semifinals matches, two FIFA World Cup quarterfinal games, golf from The Greenbrier, which I will be enjoying, and a full slate of Major League Baseball with a couple of those games on television, another sport that will have my interest.
Most Americans have the day off and will be enjoying the sporting events with family and friends, along with grilling out and hanging by the pool.
But before you jump into your favorite sport, let's remember why this day has been made possible.
I know you have heard it a hundred times, if not more, but it is the Fourth of July and the day America celebrates its independence.
