MSU hires Dillon to coaching staff
Mississippi State has hired Zach Dillon as coordinator of baseball camps and a volunteer assistant coach the athletic department announced Thursday afternoon.
Dillon replaces Jake Wells who was hired as an assistant coach at Louisiana Tech earlier this summer. Along with his camp duties, Dillon will also coach first base during the spring.Â
"We are thrilled to welcome coach Dillon to the Mississippi State family," MSU head coach John Cohen said in a school release. "Zach's experience at virtually every level of baseball, along with his coaching success, makes him a valuable asset to our baseball program."
Dillon comes to Starkville after serving as an assistant coach at Iowa in 2013. He was the Hawkeyes' hitting coach, recruiting coordinator, handled the catchers and coached third base.Â
He spent the last year coaching a high school travel ball team in Iowa.
Dillon was a volunteer assistant coach for the Hawkeyes in 2010 and 2011 before taking the same position at his alma mater Baylor in 2012.Â
