Starkville's 9-year-olds win third-straight game

BATESVILLE – Wins kept coming for the Starkville 9-year-old All-Stars as they took their third game of the Dizzy Dean State Tournament 15-5 over Southaven.
Starkville jumped out to an early lead in with four runs in the first inning.
Southaven roared back with five runs in the third to claim a one-run advantage 5-4.
Those were the only runs Starkville allowed as the All-Stars tacked on two in the top of the fifth before adding an additional nine in the top of the sixth allowing them to walk away with a 10-run victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Starkville picked up wins over Fulton and Oxford and are now set to face Columbus at 5:30 p.m. today, with a spot in the championship game on the line.
