Mathiston starts day with easy 19-11 victory

Mathiston continued its journey through the winner's bracket of the Coach Pitch Dizzy Dean South State Tournament with a 19-11 victory over Columbus on Saturday.
The 7-year-old All-Stars came out the gate with bats a blazing as Ethan Hillhouse, Stetson Perkins, Hardy Fason, Hunter Smith, Jordan Gaskin, Cooper Stidham and Barrett Gregg all rounded the bases to give Mathiston an early 7-0 lead.
Columbus posted one in the bottom of the first, but with Hillhouse, Perkins and Smith rounding the bases in the top of the second as Mathiston extended its lead to 10-1.
