Baseball season is in full swing in Starkville.
After a successful regular season, the 10-year-old All-Stars are busy playing and preparing for this weekend’s Dizzy Dean State Tournament in Eupora.
“We have been practicing and playing tournaments and having an overall good time,” Starkville coach T.J. Kent said. “We open our state tournament (today) at 1:30 playing Grenada.”
Heading into the season culminating tournament, Kent feels pretty good about where his team stands. Not only are they strong on the field, but off the field, the coach says he could not ask for a better squad.
“This is the best group of kids I have coached or been around,” Kent said. “They are good kids and good athletes. We have good strengths all the way around the field from batting to defense. Now it is all about getting their minds set on playing ball while also having fun.”
